Paint your own pottery pieces are generally priced from £20 - £50, this includes the glazing and firing.

Welcome to Emma’s Pottery Parlour Take Away Kits!

By following these guidelines we will ensure that you get the best possible colours and finish to your piece.

Please make sure your hands are clean, do not use hand lotions or baby wipes as they can some times leave a “greasy” mark on the pottery. Try to keep food away as well. If your pottery is dusty you can wipe your piece with a damp sponge before starting to paint.

Decide on your design. If you need to mark out your design first then please use a felt tip pen (No sharpies). Do not use pencils as they can leave marks after firing. Felt tips magically disappear in the kiln so it doesn’t matter what you draw with them.

Paint your design, the surface is porous and the pottery will dry quite quickly. You don't need to add water to the paints. When it is dry paint over your design again. We aim for two/three good coats of paint, which will give bolder colours, and less brush marks. Allow each coat to dry. We understand that this can be tricky for our younger painters! Don’t worry if the colours look lighter than the colour wheel - this is because it hasn’t been glazed and fired. Follow the wheel for the “true” colour. Colours can be mixed, but you won’t know the “true”colour until it is fired!

If you are stuck for ideas we recommend that you look at PINTEREST. If you search "pottery painting” you will be spoilt for choice!

If you are creating designs using hand / foot prints / fingers prints don’t worry about a second application of paint, one is enough. - But please choose a stronger colour so it will be visible with one coat of paint.

Use lighter colours first. Dark colours will show through the lighter ones.

Don’t worry about getting messy, all of our products are non-toxic and washable... you never see a clean artist! Product contents are available on request.

Keep your items safe and clean until you drop them off for firing. Please bring your order receipt with you. Firing time frames are 7 days.
